The London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is like no other area in the UK. The average income is £120k, over half the children are educated privately and house prices have soared to be in reach of only the mega rich. This is one of the UK’s golden post codes. This BBC2 Newsnight video explains the situation in more detail. It is a good complement to an article I have written in the November 2013 addition of Geography Review which covers a wider range of housing issues in the capital including homelessness, parasitic singles and high rise development. You can also learning more about gentrification in Kensington and Chelsea on this post.
